As the Summer Festival Season comes to a close and our Summer Shimterns leave us with their pockets full knowledge and festival finesse, we asked them share a piece of their journey with us.
We have the pleasure of sharing Katrina’s story with you today, if you need us we’ll be hiding under our teary-eyes under our desks for a moment.
This summer was an experience you cannot get many other places. The shimterns and I became really close in just a short period of time. While on the road or in the office, we became friends and got to enjoy an amazing opportunity to work in the music industry together. There were so many moments throughout the summer that cannot go unnoticed. From all of the states we traveled through together and the world-class music we got to enjoy at every festival. We were living the dream doing what we love and learning so much along the way. With this aside, my favorite moment of this past summer wasn’t being front row at Phish or even the casual beer after a day in the office, it was closer to the end of our adventure.
The last night of All Good truly stands out to me as a satisfying and celebratory moment for the shimterns together. We were at the staff party on Monday night after the madness had calmed and clean vibes left the fields of All Good spotless. We decided that when all of us had arrived at the party we would make a toast with some champagne to this summer. We were lucky enough to catch some Shimon staff (Kylie, Jess, and Kerry) at the party to join in on the toast. This was awesome because they are the people that make it happen and also taught us and supervised us along the way.
The toast was nice with a mix of genuine feelings and of course some comedic relief from the jokesters in the group. It ended a new chapter for my friends and I as we began to look forward to our “real world” and take in everything we had gained from working with Shimon Presents. This moment was satisfying and real which is why I enjoyed it so much. We truly became a family. Kylie poured some champagne out for Gabriella who could not make it to All Good, but we always kept her in mind.
What an amazing experience. Some of us cried from being overwhelmed and I know all of us laughed until we cried. Overall I couldn’t have asked for a better summer or a better group of people to spend it with! Thanks everyone, you rock!
